Education Alert: DSEK to commence with Learning Management System for online teaching | KNO

Srinagar, May 08 (KNO): Directorate of School Education (DSEK) Kashmir on Saturday said that it is establishing a Learning Management System (LMS) to connect students and teachers for online teaching. In this regard an order was issued by the DSEK, a copy of which lies with the news agency—Kashmir News Observer (KNO). “In view of rising trend in COVID-19 cases in JKUT, during closure of schools, the directorate has been trying hard to reach out the students during lockdown for continuing the Education through all blended means. “DSEK has been trying to reach students via online education through different digital platforms, conference calls, messenger apps, Tele Classes, Radio classes, assessment based assignment, tutorials and keeping available digital educational resources as per curriculum and topics,” it reads. The order reads that in addition to online education, the platform should help us in monitoring the online classes and keeping track of the Teacher and student attendance and the extent of daily learning through online classes. Stating the salient features of LMS, DSEK said, “There Should be a facility of registration of schools on the system and all teachers can be added to registered schools with the specific objective that the teacher is teaching their subject.” DSEK also said that the online teaching-learning should be through the medium of assignments, PPTs, chats, texts and videos, also there should be the content uploading and sharing by the teachers with the students of their school. “The teacher can afterwards login into the system and upload e-content, assignments and the link to video lectures. The student can access the material and watch the video on the portal after logging in into the system,” it reads. Stating the provision of study material, DSEK said that a study material should be provided to the students and the use of the material must be tracked—(KNO)
